Chateau Belle-Vue is located in Haut Medoc appellation area (not to be confused with Chateau Bellevue in St. Emilion). It is a young winery with a first vintage in 1996 when the owner Remy Fouin separated plots from his Chateau de Gironville estate and undertook to make wine that is worthy of the Margaux appellation. In 2004, Château Belle-Vue, Château de Gironville and Château Bolaire were purchased by Vincent Mulliez. He comes from the area and leaves his job as a banker in London to return to his fatherland. His early death in 2010 leaves his wife Isabelle taking care of the estate. The Belle-Vue vineyards extend to 10.4 hectares, planted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 20% Petit Verdot, and are in average 32-year-old. The grapes are hand picked, with a great deal of manipulation of pruning and maintenance of vines. The Margaux Terroir finds a wonderful expression in Chateau Belle-Vue's wine, and all the effort and good deal of handiwork put into it are rewarding with each subsequent harvest.
