Chateau Cissac is in the possession of the Vialard family since 1895. It is located in the northernmost part of the Haut-Médoc appellation and enjoys the same sea climate: the Gironde river estuary in one end and the Bay of Biscay in the other serve as a regulator, while the pine forests surrounding the vines protect them from the cold west and northwest winds. The soil is mostly sand and gravel. The vines are 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot with average age of 30 years. The domination of Cabernet is well reflected in the wine – a classical Médoc.
