Chateau Avli Merlot Reserva 2021

Art. # 5773
Noble red color with granite shades. The nose has notes of juicy ripe fruits, dry herbs, and sweet spices. Smooth and elegant body with fine tannins, complex and captivating finish. Limited series of hand-picked grapes, grown with reduced yield. 50% of the grapes are destemmed and fermented with whole berries, while the remaining 50% are put into the vessel with whole bunches. Aged for 12 months in new French barrels and 12 months in bottle. The wine pairs wonderfully with pasta, roasted red meats, risotto, and pork delicacies. Awards: 87 points from James Suckling Wine Ratings.

Chateau Avli

Chateau Avli

Thracian valley

Thracian valley

In this region, which includes Southern Bulgaria, the climate is moderately continental, protected from the northern winds thanks to the Balkan Mountains, with a good distribution of rainfall. It includes the central parts of the Thracian Plain and parts of Sakar. Most of the red grape varieties are concentrated in this area. The varieties grown include 'Mavrud', 'Merlot', 'Cabernet Sauvignon', 'Red Muscat', 'Pamid', and others. The climatic conditions of the region favor the production of rich, dense, memorable red wines from the varieties 'Cabernet Sauvignon' and 'Mavrud'. Good wines from the local variety 'Mavrud' are particularly valued because they combine the aroma and taste of red berries, spices, and herbs.

Merlot

Southwest of France is Merlot’s birthplace - the regions of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. Merlot is nowadays widely planted across the world much like Cabernet Sauvignon because it is an early maturing grape variety and because of its ability to ripen fully even in slightly cooler climates. Smooth, velvety, soft and rounded - an “easy drinking" wine with tender tannic structure - these are the common descriptions of Merlot wines.
