Zhigonda Ruz 2020

Art. # 4280
Mainly from Grenache, this typical blend from Southern Rhône is complemented by Syrah and less than 15% Mourvèdre. Traditional vinification in neutral stainless steel and concrete vessels, with the grapes being destemmed. Aging for a period of 12-14 months occurs again mainly in neutral vessels, but partly in oak barrels for additional complexity. Deep ruby-red color, the aromas are typical of the Grenache variety with ripe fruits, both black and red. A powerful yet harmonious and balanced representative of the classic appellation Gigondas. Long finish, with hints of spices, black pepper, and graphite. The wine has aging potential of up to 8 years, we recommend decanting younger vintages and serving at a temperature of 17 degrees.

Alain Jaume

Alain Jaume

In the 14th century, Pope John XXII built a palace in the village of Châteauneuf. He and his heirs, impressed by the exceptional terroir, planted vineyards around the castle on terraces covered with smooth rounded limestone pebbles. Thus was born one of the most famous and valued appeals in the world: Châteauneuf du Pape. The Jaume family has been dedicated to the art of making wine since 1826. Alain Jaume wines have a huge potential to age and are rich, rich and complex. They reflect and embody the superb terroir of the southern Rhone Valley.

Rhone Valley

Rhone Valley

The Rhône Valley is a long, narrow strip in the southern center of France; in practice, this region is divided into two subregions, each with its own character and identity - Northern and Southern Rhône; the northern section is best known for its legendary and long-lasting red wines primarily made from Syrah grapes: Hermitage, Côte Rôtie, Saint-Joseph, and Cornas, as well as the aromatic white Viognier from Condrieu; the south is home to the full-bodied Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas, as well as the light Rosé from Tavel; Châteauneuf-du-Pape can be a blend of up to 13 different varieties, of which 3 are even white; this is also the main difference between it and Gigondas, where white varieties are not allowed in the blend; the most famous of these main red varieties are Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Cinsault, while the whites are Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier.

Grenache

Grenache

Grenache (Garnacha) is a red-wine grape grown extensively in France, Spain, Australia and the United States. Grenache is the French name for the grape, while in Spain it is known as Garnacha, and on the island of Sardinia they call it Cannonau. In France it is most commonly found in the classic Southern Rhone Blend ( it is the main grape variety in Chateauneuf-du-Pape) but also plays a main role in one of southern France's signature Rosè wine style in Provence. In Spain, Garnacha is the key constituent in the prestigious wines of Priorat.
