More about this product

Villa Kytina
This is new, extremely small, family-owned micro winery with visionary approach and style, which made a big impression among our sommeliers. Veselin Georgiev and Lora Todorova, which are the main people behind the project, are devoted solely to these special wines, produced in very small quantities, around 1000 and sometimes even around 500-600 bottles. They practice biodynamic agriculture, never use chemicals or artificial additives, they don’t filter and fine the wines, do not even use sulfites. They let the grapes ferment spontaneously with wild yeast and for the elevage they use white Bulgarian oak. In many cases only stainless steel. They have their own vineyards and part of them are exceptionally old vines of Cabernet Sauvignon. The producers are focused on this variety and its authentic expression from the Karabunar terroir. Another unique element of their wines is the depth and the concentration. Their different Cabernets are multilayered, concentrated, with smooth, solid tannins and freshness. The wines definitely have potential for bottle aging. For us, the sommeliers, it would be very interesting to try these wines after 7, even 10 years. Our opinion is that the wines of Villa Kutina, except the scarcity factor, possess an authentic expression of one intriguing Bulgarian terroir – the Karabunar micro appellation. Also, these are bottles, which are worthed to be kept in your collection, to be able to explore their development in time. Bulgarian wines for connoisseurs!

Thracian valley
In this region, which includes Southern Bulgaria, the climate is moderately continental, protected from the northern winds thanks to the Balkan Mountains, with a good distribution of rainfall. It includes the central parts of the Thracian Plain and parts of Sakar. Most of the red grape varieties are concentrated in this area. The varieties grown include 'Mavrud', 'Merlot', 'Cabernet Sauvignon', 'Red Muscat', 'Pamid', and others. The climatic conditions of the region favor the production of rich, dense, memorable red wines from the varieties 'Cabernet Sauvignon' and 'Mavrud'. Good wines from the local variety 'Mavrud' are particularly valued because they combine the aroma and taste of red berries, spices, and herbs.

Cabernet Sauvignon
This is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth - a natural crossing between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. From its origins in Bordeaux, this vine has successfully spread to almost every wine growing country in the world. Cabernet Sauvignon wines always demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, excellent tannic structure and aromas of black berries and spices.
