Yalovo Reserve Ruby 2020

Art. # 5916

100% ruby from two plots in the Rhodope neck – old vines in the land of Kuklen, and younger ones in the land of Belashtitsa.

Strict selection of the grapes and maceration for 18-20 days in a wooden vat. Aging in barrels made of French, American, and Bulgarian oak for 18 months, with stabilization and clarification done naturally, without clarifiers and gentle filtration.

Dense ruby-red color. The nose is varietal, with predominant notes of black fruit: blueberry, aronia, ripe cherry, as well as cappuccino, black pepper, and vanilla. Elegant and dynamic taste. The body is flexible with a lot of sweetness and grainy tannins. Long finish with accents of oak, smoke, and black fruit.

Alc. 14.1 %

Danubian Plain

Danubian Plain

This region extends from the banks of the Danube River to the slopes of the Stara Planina, encompassing the fertile Danube plain. It is characterized by a moderate continental climate with hot summers and a large number of sunny days. The varieties 'Muscat Ottonel', 'Gamza', 'Cabernet Sauvignon', 'Merlot', 'Chardonnay', 'Aligoté', 'Pamid', and others are widespread. Here, dry white wines, sparkling wines made using classical technology, and quality red wines are produced, which are characterized by a rich fruity aroma and fresh taste. A typical local variety is Gamza, also known in Serbia and Hungary as Kadarka. This is a red variety mainly grown in the Vidin and Pleven regions, which ripens at the end of September and produces fresh, fruity, and pleasantly tart wines with a characteristic aroma of raspberries and forest fruits.

Rubin

Rubin

Rubin Bolgarskii, or simply Rubin, is a dark-skinned crossing of Nebbiolo and Syrah created in Pleven in 1944. Rubin is grown not only in Bulgaria but also in Moldova, Romania and Slovenia. The wines are of good-quality and high in content of anthocyanins, the compounds responsible for the deep colour of the wine. Rubin's peppery flavour can be attributed to the Syrah, as well as its pleasant crushed-violet aromatic profile, while the tannic structure comes from the Nebbiolo. Wines made from this variety are often aged in barrel where the vanilla and smoky flavours soften the tannins further.
