Bratanov 3 Blend 2019
Art. # 5590Cabernet Franc 50%, Merlot 40%, Rubin 10%, the wine was created by Maria Stoeva – enologist at Bratanovi winery.
The own plantations of Bratanovi of Cabernet Franc (single vineyard 3 ha), Merlot (single vineyard 10 ha) and Rubin (single vineyard 1 ha), are part of a vineyard area of 22 ha with several other varieties, created in the period 2006-2008 on the southwestern slopes of Sakar Mountain, in the land of the village of Shishmanovo, municipality of Harmanli, locality Armutluka.
The vineyards are grown without irrigation, without herbicides, only with mechanical soil cultivation. Since the end of 2021, all vineyards are in the process of certification for organic farming. The specific three plots have predominantly sandy-clay cinnamon soils, slightly stony, on a base of metamorphic, crumbly rocks and with excellent drainage. The altitude is about 150-180 m, hilly terrain. The soil structure and the lack of irrigation allow the vine roots to develop deeply, leading to greater complexity in the grapes and greater drought resistance. The geographical location in the southeastern part of Bulgaria, as well as the nearby Maritsa River with the winds flowing from the Aegean Sea, shape a transitional Mediterranean climate with a long warm summer and mild winter. The resulting grapes are usually healthy, with naturally low yields, good concentration of polyphenols, ripe tannins, higher sugar levels, but balanced by moderate acidity due to cooler nights and the sea breeze. This wine is Sakar's response to the classic Bordeaux blend, in which the spice from Petit Verdot is replaced with the local variety Rubin. The ratios between the three varieties vary in different vintages, with the goal of making the blend a wine with complexity, balance, authentic character, and aging potential.

Bratanov Winery
The Bratanov family cellar is located near the village of Shishmanovo, South Sakar. In the period 2006-2008, they planted 24 hectares of their own vineyards with the classic varieties Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, as well as with the local Rubin and Tamianka, in order to restore the hereditary viticulture tradition after a 50-year break. The terrain is located on sunny hills, and the nearby river Maritsa and the winds penetrating along it from the Aegean Sea form an almost Mediterranean climate. The winery has an experimental spirit, uses different methods of winemaking and is not afraid to use spontaneous, "wild" fermentation. Since 2015, the chief oenologist in the winery is a young oenologist Maria Stoeva, who graduated in Dijon, France, who together with the owners focuses on wines that best reflect the characteristics of the terroir and have a strong personality.

Thracian valley
In this region, which includes Southern Bulgaria, the climate is moderately continental, protected from the northern winds thanks to the Balkan Mountains, with a good distribution of rainfall. It includes the central parts of the Thracian Plain and parts of Sakar. Most of the red grape varieties are concentrated in this area. The varieties grown include 'Mavrud', 'Merlot', 'Cabernet Sauvignon', 'Red Muscat', 'Pamid', and others. The climatic conditions of the region favor the production of rich, dense, memorable red wines from the varieties 'Cabernet Sauvignon' and 'Mavrud'. Good wines from the local variety 'Mavrud' are particularly valued because they combine the aroma and taste of red berries, spices, and herbs.

Its varietal wines are light to medium bodied and often show vegetal characteristics, in particular green bell peppers.
