Domaine Rolet

Zhurа
Jura is a small wine-growing region in Eastern France, responsible for many traditional and extremely interesting wine styles. The region is squeezed between Burgundy to the west and Switzerland to the east. It is characterized by a landscape of wooded slopes and the twisting topography of the Jura Mountains. The vineyards of Jura cover just over 1850 hectares (4570 acres), forming a narrow strip of land measuring nearly 80 kilometers (50 miles) from north to south. The total area is continuously increasing, but still represents less than one-tenth of the area under vine here two centuries ago, before phylloxera destroyed the vineyards in the region. The limestone mountains in the region are representative of geological developments that occurred between 145 million and 200 million years ago. The soils in this region are mainly limestone and marl. The wines of Jura are sold under five main appellations, with the most important in quantitative terms being Arbois and Côtes du Jura.

Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is the dominant red wine grape of Burgundy, a challenge for every single vine grower and wine producer. It can be found in Germany (as Spätburgunder), Italy (Pino Nero), Chile, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. The wines show a specific aroma of red berries and cherry depending on the vinification method employed - from fresh red cherries in lighter wines to stewed black cherries in weightier examples, many of them also showing hints of earthy flavours.
