The Moradas of San Martin Initio 2017

Art. # 4682
Initio 2017 possesses all the characteristic nuances of the Grenache variety, grown on the granite soils of this region; harmonious and balanced, with balsamic notes and aromas of cherry, red plum, Mediterranean herbs, forest fruits, graphite, and mineral nuances from the granite; fresh and lively on the palate, with a long and elegant finish. This is a wine that can be paired with a variety of dishes thanks to its versatility and roundness; it captures the essence of Grenache, grown in this mountainous terroir with vines aged between 50 and 112 years in the most natural and respectful way.

The Abodes of San Martin

The Abodes of San Martin

Wine of Madrid

Wine of Madrid

Vinos de Madrid is a Spanish protected designation of origin (Denominación de Origen Protegida - DOP) since 1990, located in the southern part of the Madrid region, Spain. It encompasses 54 municipalities and is divided into three sub-zones (Arganda, Navalcarnero, and San Martín), each producing different types of wines. All three sub-zones are situated at an altitude between 500 and 800 m. Arganda is the largest, containing about 50% of the vineyards and including 26 municipalities. The soil here mainly consists of clay and limestone over granite rocks. To the southwest, near the Sierra de Gredos mountain range, lies the San Martín sub-zone, which holds 35% of the vineyards. Further southwest is the Navalcarnero sub-zone with 15% of the vineyards. The rich dark soils are more prevalent in San Martín, while in Navalcarnero, carbonates are absent, the soils are nutrient-poor, and lie over clayey subsoil layers.

Grenache

Grenache

Grenache (Garnacha) is a red-wine grape grown extensively in France, Spain, Australia and the United States. Grenache is the French name for the grape, while in Spain it is known as Garnacha, and on the island of Sardinia they call it Cannonau. In France it is most commonly found in the classic Southern Rhone Blend ( it is the main grape variety in Chateauneuf-du-Pape) but also plays a main role in one of southern France's signature Rosè wine style in Provence. In Spain, Garnacha is the key constituent in the prestigious wines of Priorat.
