Charalambiev Hs Rubin 2021

Art. # 1823

Elegant yet bold Ruby! Unadulterated, pure varietal! It has a graceful medium body, soft, albeit still young tannins, charming acidity. The taste and aroma reveal juicy cherries, black mulberries, and blueberries, while black pepper hints at the seriousness of the variety.

The vineyard "DABNIKA" is located on the left bank of the Vit River, in the area of the village of Gorni Dabnik, where the river descends from the hills of the Pre-Balkan and heads towards its mouth: the soil is powerful, well-structured, drained, on a karst foundation, with an altitude of about 180 meters.

Prolonged and intense spring rains during the flowering phase, but favorable sunny and dry days during the blooming phase; combined with a hot and dry summer, warm and rainless during the entire harvest with large amplitudes of night and day temperatures. A good viticulture year with a good yield – resulting in healthy and quality grapes, a prerequisite for creating high-quality wines.

Danubian Plain

Danubian Plain

This region extends from the banks of the Danube River to the slopes of the Stara Planina, encompassing the fertile Danube plain. It is characterized by a moderate continental climate with hot summers and a large number of sunny days. The varieties 'Muscat Ottonel', 'Gamza', 'Cabernet Sauvignon', 'Merlot', 'Chardonnay', 'Aligoté', 'Pamid', and others are widespread. Here, dry white wines, sparkling wines made using classical technology, and quality red wines are produced, which are characterized by a rich fruity aroma and fresh taste. A typical local variety is Gamza, also known in Serbia and Hungary as Kadarka. This is a red variety mainly grown in the Vidin and Pleven regions, which ripens at the end of September and produces fresh, fruity, and pleasantly tart wines with a characteristic aroma of raspberries and forest fruits.

Rubin

Rubin

Rubin Bolgarskii, or simply Rubin, is a dark-skinned crossing of Nebbiolo and Syrah created in Pleven in 1944. Rubin is grown not only in Bulgaria but also in Moldova, Romania and Slovenia. The wines are of good-quality and high in content of anthocyanins, the compounds responsible for the deep colour of the wine. Rubin's peppery flavour can be attributed to the Syrah, as well as its pleasant crushed-violet aromatic profile, while the tannic structure comes from the Nebbiolo. Wines made from this variety are often aged in barrel where the vanilla and smoky flavours soften the tannins further.
