Rheingau

Rheingau

Rheingau ("district on the Rhine"), located in the heart of Germany, is the crown jewel among German wine tourism regions; this small region boasts the best in culture, wine, nature, and attractions that visitors can hope for, highlighted by the famous hospitality and joy of every Rheingauer; Rüdesheim, Flörsheim, and Hochheim to the east and Lorchhausen to the west are the geographical corners of Rheingau; the wine villages and small towns with their famous vineyards along the Rhine are situated between them like pearls on a string; perched above other villages in a wonderful location, just like a balcony with a privileged view of the valley; the tree-covered mountains of Taunus surround the region to the north and protect it from the harsh northern winds; in places, the riverbed widens almost to small lakes; these lakes are accumulators of moisture and heat that provide relatively uniform temperatures without extreme fluctuations - ideal conditions for viticulture; although viticulture is small, there are many types of soil, including chalk, sand, gravel, all kinds of clay, loess, quartzite, and schist.

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is the dominant red wine grape of Burgundy, a challenge for every single vine grower and wine producer. It can be found in Germany (as Spätburgunder), Italy (Pino Nero), Chile, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. The wines show a specific aroma of red berries and cherry depending on the vinification method employed - from fresh red cherries in lighter wines to stewed black cherries in weightier examples, many of them also showing hints of earthy flavours.
